Expansion and Renovation of the VDNFC
The VDNFC wants to develop a new five-storey pavilion and renovate the current building. Both outside and inside, the design highlights the richness of the Cree and Anicinape cultures. This new carbon-neutral centre will be a true community hub offering a range of services promoting the well-being of Indigenous people: Clinic, dining room, accommodations, administrative centre and accessible community living environments. As Oscar Kistabish, President of the VDNFC, rightly mentioned, “This project (...) paves the way for reconciliation and is part of a process of cultural security and rapprochement between peoples that meets the very mission of the VDNFC. The integration of a cultural approach into the project enriches its contribution to the community. The contribution of Indigenous knowledge keepers, artists and craftsmen give meaning and an invaluable anchoring to the project.”
